Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 April 2026
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using ScholarAI, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Who can use ScholarAI
You must be at least 16 years old and capable of entering into a legally binding contract. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
3. What ScholarAI does
ScholarAI is an AI-powered research assistant that generates responses based on documents you upload. Responses are intended as a starting point for your own research and writing — not as a finished academic submission.
4. Academic integrity
You are solely responsible for how you use ScholarAI's output. Many educational institutions have policies on the use of AI in academic work. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with your institution's rules. ScholarAI accepts no liability for academic penalties arising from your use of the service.
5. Your content
You retain all intellectual property rights in documents you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process it solely for the purpose of delivering the service to you. You warrant that you have the legal right to upload each document and that doing so does not infringe any third party's rights.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload material you do not have the right to use
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the service
- Use the service to produce unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content
- Share your account with others or resell access
- Circumvent usage limits, payment requirements, or security controls
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Payments
ScholarAI is sold as a one-time purchase that grants a fixed allowance of questions and document uploads. Prices are shown in GBP. Payment is processed by Stripe.
8. Refunds
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase for a full refund.
By accepting these Terms and using the service before that period ends, you expressly consent to the service beginning immediately and acknowledge that your right to cancel is lost once you submit your first question, because the digital service has begun to be performed.
If you have not used any questions, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a refund.
9. Service availability
We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, modify features, or discontinue parts of the service with reasonable notice where practicable.
10. AI output — no warranty on accuracy
ScholarAI is grounded in the documents you upload, but AI-generated output may still contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. The service is provided on an “as is” basis. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any content before relying on or submitting it.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of ScholarAI is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses, including loss of grades, academic outcomes, or data.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (including for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may terminate your access if you breach these Terms. On termination, your access ends and your allowance is forfeited, except where we have acted unlawfully.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, unless mandatory consumer protection law grants you additional rights in your country of residence.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
